“Digital Product Passport & Traceability: Enabling Sustainability through Effective Policy” will take place on 27 November, 2025 at the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS), Place du Congrès 1, 1000 Brussels, as well as online.

The central question guiding the event is this: Can Digital Product Passports (DPPs) improve waste wood flows to advance a circular economy?
Stakeholders from across diverse sectors such as policymakers, industry representatives and researchers shared their knowledge on the topic, addressed the main challenges and spotlighted the contribution of DPPs to drive circularity in the European Union (EU) in this interactive workshop.
In this hybrid session, three workshops collectively explored key areas of intervention such as governance challenges with DPP data management, data models, interoperability and policy compliance in addition to DPP policies that affect the economics of green solutions.
The event agenda is attached below.

For this year’s session, Wood2Wood project will demonstrate their work in the transformative valorisation of wood waste from the construction and demolition and furniture sectors. Our presence in this event is linked with our work on developing digital tools for improving the circular flows of secondary materials.
A digital product passport (DPP) is a digital tool that allows for the collection and presentation of data on products across supply chains to consumers and supply chain actors. With DPPs stakeholders across the value chain can make informed decisions before buying products. This will benefit supply chain actors to access reliable information for the sustainable management of products across their entire lifecycle and promote circularity of materials.
As part of this work, the project is developing three key tools that will find its way into the Integrated Circular Wood Upcycling Platform:
- Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment for different Cascade Pathways: For a holistic approach accounting for the impact from all the stages of product lifecycle, a combination of LCA, Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA), and Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) will be conducted for an integrated Life Cycle Sustainability Assessment (LCSA). In this assessment, three dimensions of sustainability (environment, economy, and social aspects) will be considered.
- Material Volume Estimation: Computer vision methods will be applied for mixed waste volume estimation.
- Supply Chain Management for the Optimisation of Upcycling of Secondary Materials: A tool for secondary materials for managing the process of recycling wood along the supply chain. Click here to see our short video on the SCO tool.
In the past, Wood2Wood project has published a policy paper from CEPS and participated in a webinar (CERTH) earlier this year in April with Horizon EU projects such as iBot4CRMs, Alchimia, Clarus, Reclaim, Darrow, Grinner and Tubers on the contribution of DPPs to improve data management. A lot of work is being done in the Digital Product Passport arena and Wood2Wood Project is a prime example to follow.
