Digital Product Passports or DPPs are key to achieving circularity across supply chains.
DPP is a digital tool that enables the collection and presentation of data on products across supply chains to consumers and supply chain actors.
With the help of DPPs, consumers can make informed choices when buying products and supply chain actors benefit from having access to reliable information for sustainable management of products across their lifetime.
In W2W project, we know that DPPs are essential to improve waste wood flows to advance a circular economy.
This CEPS (Centre for European Policy Studies) analysis paper “How digital product passports can enhance waste wood valorisation and circularity in the EU” explores the challenges and opportunities for advancing waste wood valorisation and the circular economy using DPPs.
Some of the challenges and opportunities identified in the paper are:
➡️Data availability
➡️Access and integration
➡️Harmonised DPP content
➡️Limited stakeholder capacity
➡️Costs of implementing DPPs.
